in an effort to truly recognize the simple pleasures in my life, i have compiled a list of random happenings that made the last seven days a little lot brighter. ((& trust me, they were all very much appreciated.))
- Painting. i always forget how calming the act of painting is until i participate. Attending Cookies & Canvas with the girls was a big hit last weekend & I’ve got to say, my sassy snowman is looking like a million bucks on display.
- writing. this isn’t the first time i’ve been thankful for writing, but every time i take a minute to appreciate it, there’s a tried & true reason. this week, it’s a thankfulness i feel for bringing it back into my life. it’s been a smooth transition, much like riding a bike for the first after years & years without it. it’s easy for me to watch reality tv until late at night, read gossip magazines until my eyes lids grow heavy, & get caught up in all things pointless (ahem Teen Mom), & this week, i’m glad i took some time to write. it’s the first step, so we’ll see what happens next.
- ruffles. (the act of fabric, not the brand of chip) until i was a freshman in high school, i was not dressing like a girly girl- i was a tom boy through & through. i’m sure it’s the most entertaining for those people who knew me back then & see how i currently dress. i went from tall athletic socks & boxers to bright colored everything, ruffles, lace, & sparkle. it’s a change i’m so glad kicked in…even if it took those awkward, so awkward, middle school years to play out first.
- good health. we’ve had our fair share of health scares over the last few years. i remember the first time i found out there was a biopsy without my awareness & i was extremely ticked off. i couldn’t believe it was kept a secret. since then, we’ve become an all out in the open kind of family. no health secrets. it’s how we roll. & for us, it works. this week, was no different. we are able to celebrate the good news (when it arrives). we appreciate the patient having the procedure even more. & we love a little harder with each scary/potentially life-changing episode.
- two-days. it’s the first week since i started work in december that i have had two days off in a row. granted, having a thursday/friday off isn’t all that fabulous, it seems pretty spectacular to me! yesterday was for catching up on miscellaneous errands (getting blood drawn, running into target for bentley’s favorite rawhide sticks, picking up discounted diet hot chocolate, running through bucky’s for a grande Blonde Roast (read my review here!), meeting a friend for an afternoon caffeine pick-me-up, & working out). today is for relaxing with the DVR remote in my hand while laying on the couch. that’s the goal anyway. i know it won’t happen. but it’s a nice thought, right?
- hot tea. i’ve been drinking my fair share of Sugar Cookie Tea & Candy Cane tea ever since some of you generous readers friends shipped some my way. it’s delicious & i think of you with every cup! thank you, thank you, thank you.
xo,
B
